Agency-Level Stewardship

The Federal Electronics Challenge (FEC) supports efforts to continuously improve environmental stewardship of electronics government-wide.

Executive Order 13514, Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance

Executive Order (E.O.) 13514, "Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance," was signed by President Obama on October 5, 2009. The E.O. sets sustainability goals for the federal government in a number of areas, including electronics stewardship.

National Strategy on Electronics Stewardship

The National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship (PDF, 559 KB) lays the groundwork for federal actions to improve the design of electronic products and enhance management of used or discarded electronics. The Strategy was developed by an interagency Task Force and was released in July 2011.

Agency Strategic Sustainability Performance Plans

Federal agencies have plans that prioritize actions that they intend to take to meet the goals of E.O. 13514. View each agency's Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan for information on how they intend to meet their electronics stewardship goals.

Office of Management and Budget Sustainability and Energy Scorecards

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issues scorecards assessing federal agencies' sustainability practices. View each agency's Sustainability and Energy Scorecards to see OMB's evaluation of federal agencies' progress in meeting sustainability goals.

Federal Electronics Stewardship Working Group

The Federal Electronics Stewardship Working Group (FESWG) coordinates interagency efforts to promote federal electronics stewardship. The FESWG is an advisory board for the FEC. The FESWG, currently chaired by the Office of the Federal Environmental Executive, meets once a month.
