DOE National Renewable Energy Laboratory

The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, Colorado, holds multiple employee electronics recycling events each year to give employees an opportunity to properly recycle computers and other electronics from home.

DOE Strategic Petroleum Reserves

Staff at the Strategic Petroleum Reserve facilities in New Orleans, Louisiana, boot up computers to ensure that the hard drives are clean before donating them to schools through the Computers for Learning (CFL) program. Computers in working condition are transferred to CFL, while the remaining computers are recycled.

USDA Northern Plains Agricultural Research Laboratory

For the past four years, the staff at the Northern Plains Agricultural Research Laboratory (NPARL) in Sidney, Montana, has collaborated to host a community-wide e-cycling event as a member of a local e-cycling team. The event is promoted with posters, brochures, and a booth at the county fair sporting the special program logo developed by NPARL staff. The laboratory's IT staff also conducts periodic site visits to recyclers used for the event.

EPA Research Triangle Park Campus

The EPA facilities at the Research Triangle Park campus in North Carolina sent a total of 88 pallets of outdated electronics to a recycler on the Recycling Electronics and Asset Disposition (READ) contract, which audits recyclers to ensure best practices.
